We work closely with families, and in partnership with schools and early childhood settings, so parents, carers and educators feel equipped with a range of strategies to support their child or student at home and while they’re learning.
Our paediatric speech pathologists support children to build a range of different speech and language skills, depending on their needs and goals:
Speech sounds (articulation, phonology, childhood apraxia of speech)
Stuttering
Language skills (talking and expressing ideas and/or understanding words and conversations)
Foundation reading and spelling skills
Social communication skills

Learning Links is a registered NDIS provider in the support area of Improved Daily Living. Our speech therapy team is experienced in working in partnership with families, schools and other allied health professionals to help children with complex needs.

Fun and interactive one-on-one telehealth video therapy sessions are available online via Zoom. This can be a great option for families who are unable to travel to one of our centres and for children who may be more comfortable engaging with one of our speech pathologists in the familiar home environment.
Before commencing speech therapy sessions, your child may require a standard or extended communication assessment to help our speech pathologists understand exactly what their speech and/or language difficulties are and the specific interventions needed to support their goals.
Our free 30-minute speech and language screeners assess children aged 3-6 years to determine whether their communication development is on track, or whether they may need some additional support with their speech and language in the lead up to starting school.
Face-to-face speech therapy sessions and assessments are available at our Learning Centres in Alexandria, Bella Vista, Gledswood Hills, Liverpool and Peakhurst.
Online video or phone telehealth sessions are also available – see below for more information.
Sessions are offered Monday to Friday 8.30am-6.00pm and Saturday 8.30am-4.30pm (times vary by location). Sessions run throughout the year including during school holidays. Learning Links closes annually over the Christmas period from late December to end of January.
Sessions with our paediatric speech pathologists are run on a weekly basis during school term time for either 30 minutes or 45 minutes, depending on the needs of the child.
Parents/carers receive feedback on their child’s progress in the last five minutes of each session.
Families accessing sessions using their child’s NDIS Plan are offered two consultation hours per 12 months to discuss goals and progress with their child’s speech pathologist.
If your child has a disability or developmental delay, you may be able to access speech therapy services through support that is funded by the government, either fully or in part.
Learning Links is a registered NDIS provider in the support area of Improved Daily Living, which sits under ‘Capacity Building Supports’. Families are able to use their child’s NDIS Plan funding to access assessment and intervention in line with their goals.
Learning Links is also an approved partner under the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) pathway for children under 7 years. Children 0-7 years with a diagnosed disability or developmental delays in two or more areas can access NDIS through the ECEI pathway.
Families with private health funds may be able to claim a rebate for speech therapy services – please speak to your provider for more information.
Families can speak to their GP about accessing Medicare rebates for up to five sessions per calendar year, under the Chronic Disease Management Plan (formally EPC).
