Speech and Language Screener Clinic

Featured image

In Term 1 and 2, Learning Links will be running a free Speech Pathology screening program for preschool aged children who do not currently attend a preschool, childcare or early learning service. The Speech and Language Screener clinic is generously funded by the NSW Department of Education.

What is a Speech and Language screener?

The Speech and Language screener is a 45-minute session with a qualified Speech Pathologist who will assess your child’s communication skills. Screening tests provide a quick and effective way of identifying preschool aged children who may be at risk of language disorders. Following the assessment, you will be provided with a short report including recommendations for your child.

What is assessed during the screener?

Our Speech Pathologists will assess your child’s speech and langauge in a number of areas including:

  • Receptive and expressive language skills (understanding and using words)
  • Speech sounds
  • Play

Who is elible for a Speech and Language Screener?

You can access a free speech screener for your child if you have:

  • A child aged 2-5 years with additional needs including communication difficulties, OR if you are concerned about their communication development
  • Difficulties regarding your child attending an early learning service such as preschool or childcare
  • To be eligible, children must not currently be attending any preschool, childcare or early learning service. Children attending our Learning Links Prep 4 Preschool playgroups, or who are on the waiting list and are eligible for Prep 4 Preschool, can access this service.
