Since 2022, the Resilient Kids Program has provided education and psychological support in a local Blacktown school to help children who are falling behind in their learning. The program addresses the needs of children at risk of or who have experienced traumatic situations, including the ongoing effectives of COVID lockdowns. Our specialist psychologists and teachers provide comprehensive support through group and individual sessions, resilience programs, and counselling. The program also includes teacher capacity building, offering webinars on the impacts of trauma on learning, supporting anxiety and depression, building student resilience, and engaging with parents. Furthermore, it supports parents and carers with practical strategies to enhance their children’s learning and development at home, particularly those facing challenges additional challenges themselves. Resilient Kids has provided the foundations for vulnerable children to form positive relationships with themselves and with others in their community, and to learn the vital skills that will enable them to learn, develop, and thrive.
Learning Links was also recognised as a finalist in the category of Social Inclusion for our our Charity Housie program. Charity Housie, similar to bingo, is more than just a game; it plays a crucial role in raising funds for Learning Links that are instrumental in our growth, innovation and impact on children and families. The community game fosters social interaction, combats loneliness, provides cognitive stimulation, and enhances mental health and emotional wellbeing for its participants. Players tell us it creates a sense of belonging and community. With 87 weekly sessions across 43 venues in NSW, Charity Housie also raises vital awareness of Learning Links and our mission.
