Teacher and child reading together at Learning Links Preschool

Learning Links Preschool has just been awarded an ‘Excellent’ rating by the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). This is the highest possible rating for an education and care service to achieve under the National Quality Standard, which sets a national benchmark for the quality of children’s education and care services across Australia.

Learning Links Preschool is one of only 47 services across Australia to receive this accolade. It reflects a service that is innovative, embracing continuous quality improvement and raising the bar on quality education and care for Australian children.

The Preschool was recognised for its collaborative partnerships with the local community, inclusive partnerships with children and families, and practice and environment that enhances children’s learning and growth.

Sarah Herbert, Learning Links Preschool Manager, is thrilled with the ‘Excellent’ rating. She said, “Learning Links Preschool is honoured to be acknowledged for our dedication to providing the best possible education and care to children and families in the St George and Sutherland regions. Our centre has a long history of providing a high-quality inclusive program where children of all abilities and backgrounds are welcomed, to learn, play and develop side by side.”

“Each day, our educators and therapists work in partnership with families to enhance each child’s participation and learning in the Preschool environment. Our vision is to support a community where difficulty learning is no longer a barrier to a fulfilling life and we are passionate about sharing our inclusive practices so other services can work towards this vision too,” said Ms Herbert.

The Preschool has also recently been announced as a finalist in the 2019 HESTA Early Childhood Educator and Care Awards for the second year running in the ‘Building Inclusion’ category. These yearly awards are run in partnership with Early Childhood Australia and recognise the front-line educators and carers at the very heart of Australia’s early childhood education system.

“We are incredibly proud of our Learning Links Preschool team and see these accomplishments as further acknowledgement of our excellent inclusive program and strong, responsive community engagement. We know the value of our inclusive teaching model and look forward to continuing our role as a leader in the field as we seek to embed these practices more widely in the early childhood sector,” said Birgitte Maibom, Learning Links CEO.

The 2019 HESTA Early Childhood Educator & Care Award winner is due to be announced on Thursday 26 September 2019.

Learning Links’ Preschool has operated for 25 years as a not-for-profit inclusive community-based preschool in Peakhurst, NSW. Our Preschool is one of the services provided by Learning Links, a charity organisation established in 1972 by parents concerned about the lack of appropriate education and support services to meet their children’s needs.
