Kathryn Tanner and colleagues from Tradies presenting kids from the Reading for Life program with certificates

Learning Links would like to say a huge congratulations to Kathryn Tanner from Tradies Gymea Clubs NSW for being awarded Southern Sydney’s Club Volunteer of the Year as well as the overall Southern Sydney Volunteer of the Year at this year’s Southern Division NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards.

Over the past five years, Tradies has supported Learning Links by funding and volunteering in our Reading for Life and Counting for Life programs.

Kathryn has been at the heart of this ongoing partnership, rallying the team at Tradies and coordinating with Learning Links to ensure the Tradies volunteers are well prepared to support children in their local school community.

Thanks to Kathryn, Tradies has not only donated an incredible $71,055 in ClubGRANTS over the past five years, but also committed over 1,200 volunteer hours to support 90 local school children. During that time, Kathryn herself has committed to supporting 10 children one-to-one with their numeracy and literacy, a total of 135 hours of volunteering.

Thanks to funding from clubs, like Tradies, Learning Links is able to deliver critical outreach programs to local schools across NSW by providing vital support through psychology, speech therapy and specialist education, reaching the children who need it the most.

The impact that Tradies has made to the lives of these children is largely down to Kathryn and her dedication to the cause, the children, and her incredible commitment to coordinating valuable and impactful community volunteering opportunities for Tradies staff.

Congratulations Kathryn. We couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of these awards!

We wish you all the best as this incredible achievement puts you in the running for the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award.
