We provide a range of educational parenting programs to support parents and carers in situations that test the strength of relationships and endurance of primary care givers.

Our Psychologists are accredited to teach specific parenting programs, including:

1-2-3 Magic

Parenting skills for parents of children 2-12 years

This three-session group parenting program provides tools and strategies for parents and carers to:

  • Encourage children to stop doing the things that cause frustration (like arguing, temper tantrums and fighting) and start doing the things you want them to do (tidy rooms, get dressed etc.)
  • Learn ways to effectively discipline children without arguing, yelling or smacking
  • Increase your self-esteem

Learning Links’ psychologists run the program over three weeks, with a two-hour session each week. Parents receive a hard-copy workbook with practical tips and information to use at home.

The program is running at our Oatley Centre on the following dates:

The Incredible Years® Parenting Program

Parenting skills for parents of children 2-5 years with Language Delays and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder

This five-session group parenting program provides tools and strategies for parents and carers to promote children’s emotional regulation, social competence, language skills, school readiness, and relationships with others.

The program shows parents how to:

  • Use child-directed narrated play to promote positive relationships with others
  • Support language development and school readiness through pre-academic and persistence coaching
  • Help their child to make friends
  • Help their child better understand their emotions and develop their self-regulation skills
  • Pretend play to build empathy and social skills
  • Use praise and rewards to motivate their children
  • Set limits and use behavior management strategies

Engaging Adolescents

Understanding our teenagers

This three-session group parenting program teaches a range of strategies for parents and carers to better engage with adolescents at home.  It will enable you to:

  • Understand the nature of adolescence
  • Identify what behaviours need to be ignored
  • Coach teenagers to consider the consequences of their actions
  • Hold difficult conversations when agreements are breached

Learning Links’ psychologists run the program over three weeks, with a two-hour session each week. Parents receive a hard-copy workbook with practical tips and information to use at home.

The Circle of Security – Parenting Education Program

This eight-session group parenting program will teach parents how to secure an attachment with their child. It covers topic such as:

  • Opportunities to increase your understanding of your child’s emotions
  • Developing skills that will enhance your relationship with your child to increase their confidence and self-esteem

Throughout the program a DVD showing actual life experiences will be used.

Triple P

Triple P doesn’t tell you how to be a parent. It’s more like a toolbox of ideas where you choose the strategies you need and the way you want to use them. It’s all about making parenting work for you.

The three Ps in ‘Triple P’ stand for ‘Positive Parenting Program’ which means it focuses on ways to make your family life much more enjoyable.

Triple P helps you:

  • Raise happy, confident kids
  • Manage misbehaviour so everyone in the family enjoys life more
  • Set rules and routines that everyone respects and follows
  • Encourage behaviour you like
  • Take care of yourself as a parent
  • Feel confident you’re doing the right thing
