Anxiety Management & Social Skills Program
Children are taught a range of strategies in the Take Action program via a 6-step ACTION plan.
Each letter in the word ACTION stands for a skill children learn.
This is a program which provides children with clear, practical skills to manage anxiety and improve their social and life skills.
By practising the skills they learn, the participants develop their own action plan to reduce and overcome anxiety.
The FRIENDS Program
Helping Children Reduce Anxiety and Depression
All children experience anxiety and sadness at some point. For some children, however, anxiety and depression can prevent them from enjoying normal life experiences. Children experiencing anxiety or depression may display excess worrying, withdrawal from others, feelings of worthlessness, a loss of sleep and appetite, and the loss of interest or pleasure in enjoyable activities.
FRIENDS is a positive program which teaches children important coping and problem solving skills they can apply to daily living. FRIENDS aims to teach children skills to cope with their worries and feel better about themselves.
FRIENDS helps children recognise different feelings and body cues,
- learn how to relax and feel good,
- challenge their negative self-talk,
- learn to think in helpful ways,
- cope with difficult situations,
- reward their positive steps, and practice applying these skills.
