Providing a high-quality early childhood education that fosters curiosity, rich learning experiences and inclusion is crucial for our young children – particularly those with additional needs or developmental concerns. That’s why Learning Links’ team of early education professionals, psychologists and speech pathologists is passionate about work alongside early childhood teachers, educators and support staff to share our extensive experience in creating inclusive learning environments where children of all abilities thrive.

Through our early childhood support programs, our goal is to guide children’s learning, communication, behaviour and social emotional development, while building the capacity and confidence of educators and parents to implement a range of practical strategies.

Our Early Childhood Support Programs

Learning Links’ speech therapy team believes that every child has the right to communicate and interact with others in a meaningful way and loves supporting young children to build the vital skills, confidence and independence that can help them thrive as they transition to school.

Our speech pathologists work collaboratively with early childhood professionals and families to identify children who are having difficulties with speech sounds, expressing themselves and understanding what others are saying, and build their capacity and knowledge to put effective supports in place.

Speech, language and communication support can include:

  • Group screening of children’s speech and language skills at age 4 or 5
  • Comprehensive communication assessments for children with ongoing speech, language or communication challenges – delivered in a Learning Links’ centre, or for groups of children in your setting
  • Observation of identified children in your centre with feedback and recommendations for educators
  • Parent workshops and webinars around speech development, expressive and receptive language, stuttering and finding a speech pathologist.

Speech and language supports can be paid for by the centre, or we may be able to apply for funding opportunities in your community.

Our psychologists help young children to build the foundations for positive mental health and wellbeing outcomes in the future, focusing on understanding feelings, forming relationships with others and developing positive coping strategies.

We can work in partnership with early childhood professionals and families to help identify children who are at risk of experiencing ongoing difficulties with anxiety, self-esteem, building friendships and managing their emotions or behaviour, and put a range of strategies in place in their centre and at home.

Psychology support can include:

  • Assessments for children with ongoing learning or behavioural challenges – delivered in a Learning Links’ centre, or for groups of children in your setting
  • Structured evidence-based small group programs tailored to specific skill areas, such as emotional regulation, behaviour, interacting with others and making friends, eg. Zones of Regulation, Play and Learning to Socialise (PALS), Dinosaur School, Stop Think Do
  • Observation of identified children in your centre with feedback and recommendations for educators
  • Parent workshops and webinars around anxiety, positive behaviour support, co-regulation strategies, executive functioning and other topics related to children’s wellbeing.

Social emotional supports can be paid for by the centre, or we may be able to apply for funding opportunities in your community.
