Does your child struggle with reading, spelling, writing or maths?
Is your child poorly organised or clumsy?
Does your child have trouble concentrating or completing a task?
Does your child have difficulty understanding and following instructions?

School should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience for every child. Sadly, one in five children will struggle to learn and for these children, school can become an unhappy and stressful place.

As a child who has difficulty learning progresses through school, he or she often loses confidence in themselves and their abilities. They may lose interest in school, become frustrated and try to avoid schoolwork.

Learning Links helps children and young people overcome or better cope with their learning difficulties so they can experience success at school and feel good about themselves and their ability to learn.

Learning Links can help school age children with low support needs. Assessment and Consultancy services can help a wider range of children. Families are invited to contact their local branch to discuss their child's needs and see if we can help. Learning Links' services for school age children are offered at four Sydney metropolitan locations. Some services are also offered at outreach locations. How can Learning Links help?

Assessment Program
A comprehensive assessment is an important first step in helping your child. The assessment will identify your child's learning strengths and needs, their preferred learning style, appropriate intervention and useful strategies for the classroom.

Learning Links offers a range of assessments including psychometric, academic, processing, speech and language and occupational therapy. We also conduct special provisions assessments for high school students soon to complete the School or Higher School Certificate. Click here to find out more about our Assessment Program.

To help children who have difficulty learning, Learning Links offers a range of services to suit the individual needs of each child.

Literacy & Numeracy Program
Small group classes with a maximum of five students in each class provide assistance with literacy and/or numeracy in an enjoyable setting where students experience success.

Our teachers use multi-sensory teaching techniques and incorporate language and occupational therapy activities. Our comprehensive teaching resources include computers and specialist computer software.

Learning Links provides you with regular reports on your child's progress and encourages working together with your child's school. Click here to find out more about our Literacy & Numeracy Program.

Therapy Program
Children who have difficulty learning may have trouble expressing themselves or understanding and following what others are saying.

Some children may have problems with their motor skills, balance or organisational skills. They may find writing difficult because holding a pen is not easy for them.

Learning Links offers both speech and occupational therapy or referrals to local therapists to help support and enhance a child's ability to learn.

Our Speech Pathologists work with students who have difficulty pronouncing sounds (articulation), understanding and using language (receptive and expressive language) and difficulty following the social rules of a conversation (pragmatic skills). They also work with students who have voice problems or stutter.

Our Occupational Therapists work with students who have difficulty with movement and coordination (gross motor), cutting and holding objects (fine motor), handwriting and organisational skills.

Special Group Programs
Learning Links regularly develops new and innovative programs to help children and young people.

Our current range of programs includes supporting students as they move onto high school, developing their ability to express themselves in written work such as essays and improving concentration and organisation.

Ronald McDonald Learning Program
Learning Links works in partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities to provide an educational catch-up program for children who have missed school due to serious illness. Click here to find out more about the Ronald McDonald Learning Program.

Reading for Life
Learning Links works in partnership with Unilever Australasia Foundation to provide individual literacy support to primary students within the school environment through the volunteer Reading for Life Program. Reading for Life is a community reading program to help children having difficulty reading at primary school. It is designed to support teachers and give one-to-one assistance to children who are struggling to read in a classroom environment and is available to schools in Australia and New Zealand.

Click here for more information on Reading for Life or go to www.readingforlife.net.au or you can ring Learning Links' Head Office on (02) 8525 8222.
