Access

Families can access the Let's Link Consultancy service following a Learning Links' Play Based Assessment.

Early Childhood Play Based Assessment and Consultancy

Stage 1
Play-based assessment and ongoing support for three months - this includes an early childhood consultant and a speech pathologist OR an occupational therapist OR a physiotherapist. This assessment focuses on how your child plays and learns. It may include observation of your child's social interaction, activity choice, behaviour, movement, self-help and thinking skills within your child's familiar play environment. This stage includes:

a report including recommendations and strategies following the assessment - usually two visits to the child care setting;
a visit to the child care setting including observation notes and further recommendations and strategies; and
a meeting with parents and other professionals (if needed).

Stage 2

Ongoing consultancy for three months.  This may include:

visits to the child care setting including observations and recommendations;
a meeting with parents and other professionals;
phone consultation; and
report on exit (after one year min in program).

Additional services available

Individual speech and language assessment and report.
Individual sensory profile and report.

Choosing a Service
Our service is based on the priorities and needs of each child and family. We work in partnership with your family to provide a co-ordinated early childhood intervention service. We will develop a service agreement with each family that includes services received from Learning Links, other agencies and professionals. (So we can avoid duplication, Learning Links will not provide a service that is being provided by another agency.)

Fees
Families of children in a Learning Links' program can become a Parent Member for $20 (incl GST) each year. The initial assessment costs $350 including one term's fees and then $350 per term after that. An individual speech and language assessment and report costs $250. An individual sensory profile and report costs $250. Non-members pay 10% more for each service. Reduced fees for services may be available for Learning Links' members who hold a Centrelink Family Health Care Card or are experiencing financial hardship.
