Donations in Kind

Some people prefer to find community organisations or charities that could benefit from donations of goods they manufacture or have on hand.

Donations in Kind maybe tax deductible and are a valuable way of giving back to the community. Learning Links is happy to discuss Donations in Kind.

We are always grateful for donations of White A4 paper suitable for printers and photocopiers, stationery items such as folders and new electrical appliances for our raffle or any other items which would be suitable. Please ring (02) 8525 8222 to check if an item is needed before donating.

Other items that we need at the moment are as follows.

Vacuum required for Learning Links’ branch computers and printers

To maintain and clean our computers and printing equipment, Learning Links needs a computer vacuum for use at our six branches throughout Sydney.

The vacuum is required to clean out the delicate cooling fans and laser printers and one device that would do the job was priced at Bunnings for approximately $100. We also require some breathing masks with filters to avoid inhaling matter such as leaking laser printing toner whilst cleaning out the computers.

Any donations towards this equipment would be greatly appreciated. Please call Paul Bassetti on (02) 8525 8220 if you can help.

Mattress and Curtains for a family in need

Learning Links is currently assisting a family coping with many difficulties and we would like some help in purchasing a single mattress and some curtains for a house they are renting.

The family – one parent with four children have finally secured a house that is close to transport however, they now need some household items urgently. Two of the children have disabilities and this makes it very difficult for the parent to secure paid work, as she is the full time carer. Unfortunately, this means she doesn’t have enough money to support the family especially with household items.

They require one single mattress and curtains for four windows - the size of curtains for the windows are 1.35m x 1.73m.

If anyone would like to donate to help us purchase these items please call Tracy Hassan, Case Manager, St George & Sutherland Case Management Program, Learning Links on (02) 8525 8228.

Meyland Discover support sling required for our Early Starters program

We have been recently given a very generous donation to allow us to purchase a Meyland Discover sling and support base for Jamie who is 12 months old and attends Learning Links Early Starters’ group.

Jamie was born prematurely and has high muscle tone causing muscle spasticity, which makes it hard for him to move. He cannot move independently like other children his age yet he is very bright and eager to crawl.

The Discover allows Jamie to move independently. By supporting his chest and stomach, it will allow his muscles to learn to crawl, developing important foundation skills for later movement development. By allowing him to move it will also aid his social skill development.

We would like to purchase a larger sling for older children (it can also be used by Jamie when he is older).

The cost for the additional Discover support sling is $195 and anyone who would like to donate to help us purchase this can call our Head Office on (02) 9534 1710 and ask to speak to Trish Hanna.

New equipment for our Eastern Suburbs Branch

Our move to new premises in mid-October means we need some new equipment.

If anyone has any of the following or could donate towards the cost please call Gail Murray on 9398 5188.

Two whiteboards 1200mm x 900mm – cost $89 each.

Four chairs for our waiting room (we currently have a couch that is about to fall apart – we don’t expect it to survive the move) – estimated cost $180 each chair.

Bar fridge – our current fridge was donated and while it worked for a while, it now freezes everything within an hour.  Estimated cost for a new fridge $260.

We also need our air conditioner split system taken down from our current branch and relocated to the new location.  If anyone knows an air conditioning technician who can donate their time, we would be very grateful for the help.
